Kreuth, Germany – March 12, 2010 – Top ancillary competition took place on Thursday, March 11 at the 2010 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Futurity & NRHA Show with the $15,000 added Open and $7,500 added Non Pro.
In the Open class, 34 horses entered gunning for the purse and the NRHA Lawson bronze trophy. NRBC Level 4 Open Reserve Champion Hollywood Yankee outscored the stout competition with NRHA Professional Grischa Ludwig in the saddle. The duo marked a 221 for owner Heike Nixdorf Mario Karner. Lil Ruf Ngreat Sstar and The Netherland’s Michel Sandyck slid in right behind with a 220 for second in the class. Roy De Bruin owns the Italian Reining Horse Association Level 4 Open finalist.
A total of 36 horses were entered in the Non Pro class and many knew the competition would be tough as the entries included 2009 NRHA Non Pro World Champion Skeets Dun and Andrea Castrucci (ITA). The duo met expectations and took the lead early with a solid 214.5. However, the 18-year-old NRHA Life member and avid youth and non pro competitor Birgit Wenninger (GER) had her eye on the prize. She rode Nu Redsklena Delmaso to a 216.5 to take top honors in the Non Pro class.
The evening’s activities included a Rider Meeting and the Draw Party for both Open and Non Pro Futurity finalists. Owners and exhibitors were treated to celebratory food and drink, as well as live entertainment. Level 1 and Level 2 Open and Non Pro finals will be held on Friday, March 12. The Non Pro finals begin at 2:30 p.m. and Open finals begin at 7 p.m. Level 3 and Level 4 Open and Non Pro finals are set for Saturday, March 13 with the Non Pro finals starting at 2 p.m. and Open finals starting at 6 p.m. Opening ceremonies will be held prior to the start time of each night’s Open finals.
