03.08.10 – Kaystein and Kronsteiner Take the Lead in the NRHA European Futurity

Kreuth, Germany – March 8, 2010 – Twenty horses entered Ostbayernhalle today in hopes of qualifying for the $187,000 added open finals of the 2010 NRHA European Futurity. Oakies Red Berry and Morey Fisk led the first section with a 220 yesterday. However by the end of the day’s open runs, Kaystein and Rudi Kronsteiner bested the competition with a 220.5 for owner Roy De Bruin. Kaystein, a 2009 NRHA Level 4 Open Futurity finalist with Andrea Fappani, was delivered to Kronsteiner about one week before the show in Kreuth, but the duo performed exceptionally well taking the top score from 287 entries.

Oakies Red Berry and Fisk moved to second place in the Level 4 Open division with Kachina Tag and Stefano Massignan sliding into third place with a 219.5 for owner Arcese Quarter Horses USA. Oakies Red Berry continues to lead the Open Level 3 division.

A new leader emerged in the Level 2 and Level 1 Open divisions as Cieolena Jac and 26-year-old Lukas Brucek marked a solid 217. Germany’s Cornelia Barnekow owns the mare.

The final for the $187,000 added Open Futurity will be held on Friday night (Level 1 and Level 2) and Saturday night (Level 3 and Level 4). The top 20 scores, plus ties, from the first go have qualified for the Level 4 Open division final. The next 20 scoring entries, plus ties, qualified for Wednesday’s consolation class. Then the top 5 scores, plus ties, from the consolation class qualify for the finals.

The NRHA European Futurity & NRHA Show offers a full slate of Category 1 classes for Open and Non Pro riders. Tomorrow’s classes include ancillary competition in the $500 added Limited Open, $3,500 added Intermediate Non Pro and $5,000 added Intermediate Open.
