11.30.09 – NRHA OPEN FUTURITY MOVES INTO SECOND GO

Oklahoma City, OK – November 30, 2009 – The NRHA Open Futurity second go, first section, got underway Monday at Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Kaystein and Andrea Fappani had a strong showing in the second go with the high score of 224.5. San Marcos, California’s 23 Partnership owns the stallion who now leads the Level 4 Open Futurity division 2nd go, as well as the composite with a 448. Arcese Quarter Horses USA’s Gunnatrashya and Shawn Flarida are right behind with a composite score of 446.5.

In the Level 3 Intermediate Open, Matt Mills rode Brian Westbrook’s Dunit For Sugar to a 217.5 to lead the division thus far. The duo also leads with a composite score of 435.5. Westbrook is commonly known to football fans as a Philadelphia Eagles running back. Hes A Dream and Todd Sommers sit second in the composite with a 433.

Im Soda Surprised, owned by Sharon Miller, and Talmage Smedley took the high score of the day in the Level 2 Limited Open division. The duo is in the hunt in a tie for fourth in the composite. First go leading contenders Whatta Royal Prince and Carol Metcalf, plus Nic Tuck and Yoav Sugar are tied for the composite lead with a 432 on two runs. Koby Kempel’s Nic Tuck also leads the Level 1 Open division.

NRHA offers a $20,000 added Open Gelding Incentive for the top ten geldings not qualifying for the Level 4 Open finals that entered and paid-up in the Gelding Incentive. Busta Move Bubbagun and Dany Tremblay marked the high score of the day out of eligible entries with a 211.5. Thus far, Pistol Packn Rooster and Brian Bell lead the composite in the incentive with a 430.5.

Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show exhibitors hit the Adequan® Championship Arena to battle for bragging rights in the Intermediate Open. Cracker Jack Whiz and Todd Arvidson marked a solid 215.5 to nose out the reserve champion by just half of a point. The pair represented the South Central Region who leads the Top Region Award standings with 41.5 points as of the end of the day Monday.

The go-round’s second section of the Cinch / NRHA Non Pro Futurity was held this afternoon in the Oklahoma State Fair Coliseum. A Gal With A Gun and Jana Simons dominated yesterday’s competition, but Nuff Gun and Gloria Bradley made their presence known. They now lead the Level 4 Non Pro, Level 3 Intermediate Non Pro, Level 2 Limited Non Pro and Level 1 Non Pro. Bill Bradley of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky owns the stallion.

In the Youth Non Pro division, Hermosa Hollywood and Gerardo Leal, Jr. stayed on top with a 206.5. Today’s high-scoring youth was Aubrey, Texas’ Jordan Donnelly and Crystal Lena.
