Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – May 11, 2009 – Sixty-one American Horse Publications (AHP) members named finalists in the 2009 AHP Annual Awards Contest for material published in and dated 2008. Participation in this year’s contest represented 111 AHP members and 816 entries. Held since 1974, the AHP Annual Awards Contest provides members with an opportunity for recognized for excellence in equine publishing as well as professional critiques for improvement. Among the award finalists for 2008 is the NRHA Reiner, which won numerous awards in 2008 for work published in 2007.
The Awards Presentations will be Saturday evening, June 27, 2009, during the AHP “Free Rein in The Big Easy” Seminar, at the New Orleans Marriott Convention Center, New Orleans, Louisiana. The entries of the finalists will be on display on Saturday afternoon to provide seminar attendees with ample time to review them. Finalists will receive a list of their entries that placed and asked to e-mail a jpeg or PDF file of their entries for use in the PowerPoint presentation.
Twenty-five professional judges placed the classes and provided constructive critiques for all entries. The Awards Program booklet will include the contest results and be distributed with the judges’ comments after the awards presentations in June or mailed to non-attending members.
