Oklahoma City, OK – October 13, 2008 – The National Reining Horse Association Board of Directors recently approved two people and two horses for induction into the NRHA Hall of Fame for 2009. The formal inductions will take place at the 2009 NRHA Convention during the annual Awards Banquet scheduled for January 31, 2009.
Roger Brazeau, Collinsville, TX, earned his first recorded NRHA paycheck in 1976. An NRHA Lifetime member and judge, Brazeau is a past NRHA World Champion and SuperStakes Champion. He is known for his generosity of spirit as evidenced by the many up-and-coming non pros that note his influence and mentoring skills, and generosity of his time to further a good cause, such as volunteering his judging expertise at an RHSF Rookie Day. Brazeau also furthered Reining in Canada through his involvement with the Quebec Reining Horse Association where he served on the Board of Directors.
Mike Flarida, Georgetown, KY, earned his first NRHA paycheck in 1982. Mike is a two-time NRHA Futurity Open Champion, a multiple world champion, a SuperStakes champion, and the winner of the first USEF Reining Championship (Whizard Jac) in Gladstone, NJ. Flarida has willingly promoted Reining through his many demonstrations on behalf of NRHA at numerous venues, including the Atlanta Olympics.
Custom Crome (Crome Plated Jac x Another Greyhound) is the 1993 NRHA Futurity Open Champion, ridden by Mike Flarida. His NRHA Lifetime Earnings total over $106,000. He is an NRHA Million Dollar Sire with offspring earnings of $1,802,497. Custom Crome is currently ranked #6 on the All-time Sire List. Several of his offspring have topped the $200,000 earnings mark. Custom Crome is owned by Steven Simon, Marietta, OK.
Mega Ditto (Marthas Mega Jac x Okie Dokie Dunnit) Mega Ditto is 1998 Gelding and currently is NRHA’s #2 Non Pro Money Earning Horse with more than $126,075 earned in non pro competition only. He was the first horse to earn more than $100,000 in non pro earnings only. Mega Ditto was the 2005 Non Pro Reserve World Champion, 2005 Saddle Series winner, with numerous wins at many major events. Mega Ditto is owned by Sally T. Broten, River Falls, MN.
